UlverSTEM, Ulverston’s newest educational event for familiesis is nearly here - and we are thrilled to be part of it!

If you would like to get hands on with a driverless car, meet our robot, have a go at virtual reality, find out how a bicycle can make a smoothie or just learn more about how much fun it can be studying STEM subjects, then come along to UlverSTEM on Saturday 10thNovember at the Coronation Hall.  You will also find many of the area’s world leading technological businesses demonstrating what they do and learn lots of new stuff.  

On the day you will have the chance to win lots and lots of prizes, kindly donated by local businesses Orcina, Bender UK, GSK and Siemens.  Take a look at the Facebook page, UlverSTEM and think of a caption to accompany the picture. This caption competition is open to everyone and parents/carers can enter on behalf of children.  All entries to our Facebook competition must be taken to the event and entered into our Facebook competition box.  The winner will be announced on the day.   

You can also join in the Kahoot challenge on the day, play the STEM quiz and take a tour around a futuristic Ulverston computer game.  And whilst doing all of this, you can be in with a chance to win iTunes and Amazon vouchers.  And if that isn’t enough, the event is absolutely FREE – for nothing, gratis, at no cost.  We will also have a snapchat filter available on the day.  

This first UlverSTEM event is aimed at 6-16 year old’s and is an opportunity for young people and their families to find out what is on offer in the South Lakes, in terms of continuing education, apprenticeships and future careers.  

Over 35 organisations will be exhibiting at UlverSTEM including Oxley, GSK, Siemens, Bender UK, Chris Brammall, FETL, Kimberley Clarke, NHS, Cumbria Constabulary, LA12 Ltd who will all be on hand throughout the day, along with Ulverston Victoria High School (UVHS) and Furness College.  

UVHS pupils have designed the UlverSTEM logo and poster to help promote the event. No booking is necessary, you can turn up on the day and entry to the event is free.  The day will start with an official opening from Fran Ward, C-STEM at 10.00 am.  

Free parking is available for visitors to UlverSTEM courtesy of UVHS.  The UVHS car park on Springfield Road, Ulverston LA12 0EB will be open from 0900 – 5.30 pm and is only a short walk from the venue at Coronation Hall.  Overflow parking is available at Siemens, Low Mill Business Park, Ulverston LA12 9EE.
