This week we were delighted to donate a new anchor sculpture to sit at the entrace to Canal Foot.
We have long been supporters of the fantastic projects undertaken by Ulverston Canal Regeneration Group whose volunteers work tirelessley to make the canal an enjoyable and interesting place to visit.
Designed by Chris, the anchor is made from Corten steel to compliment the existing Corten totems which line the canal path. Apprentice Blacksmith Ali worked alongside Chris to fabricate the piece here in our Ulverston workshop and the piece was fitted into its new permanent home by Paul and Ali.
The unveiling of the new sculpture marks the start of the popular annual anchor festival which sees local schools, community groups, youth groups and businesses decorate anchors to adorn the tow path. This year there are over 70 colourful anchors on display. The Anchor Festival runs to 26th October - and is well worth a visit.
